Roku channel development, end to end
I build certified Roku channels: BrightScript, SceneGraph, custom video players, ads, and analytics, delivered through Roku certification. If you're looking to hire a Roku developer who has shipped at national scale, that's the work I've done for the past five years.
Work I can point to
- Comcast. Led the team owning the Roku Video Player used by millions of subscribers. Integrated the Roku Ad Framework with SCTE‑35 parsing and Freewheel; the Interstitial Library integration I led grew linear ad revenue 300%.
- NBCUniversal. Built Roku streaming apps; stabilized the Rooibos test suite and integrated Adobe Edge analytics.
- All Saints Channel. Took a channel from empty repository through certification for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, delivering live and pre‑recorded events to millions of users, with resume‑playback and Youbora analytics.
- Warner Bros. Discovery. Built screens and the event system for the Discovery+ Roku app.
- Gospel Stream. My own channel through NJLIGames: principal developer, BrightScript and SceneGraph, distributed through the Roku channel store.

What I build
- New channels. VOD, live, or both, from content feed to certified channel in the Roku store.
- Video player engineering. Custom SceneGraph players, resume‑playback, HLS and DASH, trick play, captions.
- Ad monetization. Roku Ad Framework, SCTE‑35 signal handling, Freewheel, interstitials.
- Analytics. Youbora, Adobe Edge, Kochava, and custom event pipelines.
- Channel rescue. Performance, playback reliability, certification failures, and test‑suite stabilization on existing channels.
Have a project in one of these buckets? Email me for a scope call.
How an engagement works
- Scope call. One call to understand your content, platforms, and monetization.
- Written quote. Fixed scope, fixed price, in writing. No hourly meter running.
- Build. You work directly with me. No subcontractors, no handoffs.
- Certification and handoff. Delivered through Roku certification, with source code and documentation.
Common questions
What does a Roku channel cost?
Every project gets a written, fixed‑scope quote after one scope call. Cost depends on live vs. VOD, ads, and player complexity, so I quote the actual work instead of publishing a one‑size price.
Do you handle certification?
Yes. Delivery means a certified channel in the Roku store, not a code dump.
Can you fix an existing channel?
Yes. Rescue work (performance, reliability, ads, failed certification) is a common engagement shape.
Who does the work?
I do, personally, through NJLIGames LLC. You work directly with the engineer who led the Roku Video Player team at Comcast.
